HANNAH GARDINER

YEAR: 2011

LOCATION: LONDON, UK

TITLE: Jellyfish

Gardiner's use of food gelatin, and live fish means her artistic process involved working with materials which are not common in contemporary art.

While Hirst's historic use of taxidermy, live insects and rotting food was then taken up by ,  the use of unpreserved food which is ot not behind glass makes for a much more volitale sculpture and one which has aprofound impact on the viewer.

Gardiner says, "This piece is inspired by how much waste we put into the water, through detergents, shampoo and soaps. I want to create 'Jellyfish' - by setting fish into jelly molds using bioresin. They will be displayed on a lightbox, giving an eerie glow."
